Terms & Fair Use

Last updated 2026-07-30

The short version

sortish helps you get things out of your head and into order. You can use it free as a guest or with an account. Pro adds Smart Sort features for a monthly subscription, with a fair-use policy described below so the service stays sustainable for everyone.

Accounts

You're responsible for what happens under your account. Keep your password to yourself. You can delete your account at any time, which permanently removes your data.

Pro subscription & free trial

Pro is $7/month or $59/year and unlocks the Smart Sort features (Smart Add, Tidy up, and Auto sort). New subscriptions start with a 3-day free trial. We collect your card up front but don't charge it until the trial ends; you can cancel during the trial and won't be charged. The free trial is limited to 100 Smart Sort actions.

Fair use

Pro gives you full access to every feature for normal, personal use — not "unlimited" use. Each Smart Sort action has a real cost to us, so Pro includes a monthly fair-use allowance. If your usage in a billing period reaches an unusually high level, we'll let you know, and beyond a further threshold the Smart Sort features pause until your billing period renews. If that happens and you need more, reach out — we're happy to work out a plan that fits how you use sortish. This exists to keep the service healthy, not to nickel-and-dime you.

Cancellation & changes

Cancel anytime from your account — you keep Pro until the end of the period you've paid for. We may update these terms or pricing as the product evolves; we'll give notice of material changes.

Payments & billing

Payments are handled by Stripe, our third-party payment processor — your card details go to Stripe and are never stored on our servers. While we work to keep billing smooth, processing errors, delays, duplicate charges, or bank-side issues can happen and are sometimes outside our control. If something on your statement looks wrong, contact us and we'll work with the processor to put it right. If a renewal payment fails, your Pro features may pause until payment goes through.

Availability

sortish is a small, evolving service and comes with no uptime guarantee. Maintenance, outages, or problems at the third-party providers we build on (hosting, Smart Sort processing, payments) can make the service slow or temporarily unavailable, and features may change over time. We'll always try to keep disruption short, but you use the service knowing interruptions can happen.

Security & your information

We do our best to protect the security of your information — connections are encrypted, your data lives with established providers, and we vet the third-party services we build on (hosting, database, payments, Smart Sort processing). But because sortish relies on those third parties, and because no system is perfectly secure, we can't assure the full security of information you store here. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we accept no responsibility for the loss, theft, or exposure of information resulting from breaches, failures, or incidents at those providers or elsewhere. Please keep your own copies of anything you can't afford to lose, and don't store passwords or highly sensitive data in your notes.

No warranties; limitation of liability

sortish is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we accept no responsibility and are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages — including lost profits, lost data, missed deadlines or opportunities, or other losses — arising from your use of (or inability to use) the service, from downtime or errors, from billing or payment-processing issues, or from mistakes in Smart Sort output. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless sortish and its creator from any claims, damages, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the service, the content you store in it, or your violation of these terms.
